Additional classes are offered that are suitable for any of these tracks. Students are encouraged to select classes in different tracks to develop a well-balanced fitness program.
PILATES CLASSES
Introduction to Pilates: Preparatory class recommended for those who have not had any Pilates instruction and for people with medical conditions. Students graduate to Mat Level 1 when the instructor determines they have mastered the basic concepts.
Pilates Mat Level 1: A continuation of Introduction to Pilates.
Pilates Mat Level 2: Progresses students through intermediate Pilates material.
Pilates Mat Level 3: Challenges the seasoned Pilates student to maximize core control, strength, and endurance. Permission from instructor required.
Pilates Mat With Props: Augments Pilates mat work through the use of props such as the ring, roller, ball, SRF, and Theraband.
Pilates Ball: Challenges overall strength, core control, and balance as Pilates exercises are performed using the ball for support and resistance.
Pilates Circuit and Sculpt: Uses Pilates equipment in a “circuit style” and adds a weight-training component. Students must have completed one semester of Pilates Mat Level 2 to participate.
MOVEMENT FOR CHANGE CLASSES
Movement for Change is the missing link in most fitness programs. It is the bridge between conditioning exercises performed in exercise class and the functional fitness you use in everyday activity. The Movement for Change curriculum provides a mindful approach to moving with comfort, competence, and confidence. It is based on the principles of the Institute of Physical Art, Feldenkrais, Franklin, Pilates, and Proprioception Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF).
Movement for Change: Mindful Mat 1-3. Particularly helpful for those who have been discharged from physical therapy but are not yet ready for Pilates or the gym, those who have had poor experiences with exercise and are hesitant to start an exercise program, and those who want to change fundamental movement patterns. Exercises are pain-free and teach students to move within their personal safety zone. In addition to the physical component, Mindful Mat classes have a contemplative aspect that contributes to stress management.
Movement for Change: Mindfully Upright. Designed for those who have learned correct alignment and movement principles and who are able to stand and move continuously for an hour. Classes challenge students to move correctly while standing balancing and moving to music.
GRAVITY TRAINING SYSTEM CLASSES
Gravity Training System (GTS) classes employ a unique system of glide boards, pulleys, and progressive incline to create a continuously moving class that strengthens, lengthens, challenges your core as it provides a low-intensity cardiovascular workout. Participants stay on the same GTS unit for 30 minutes, combining weight training, aerobics, and core strengthening into one efficient class.
Introduction to Gravity Training: Free (Thursdays only) 1-hour preparatory classes required for those who have not had any GTS instruction. Demonstration of safe movement and independent use of the equipment required for participation in other GTS classes. Please note that more than one class may be required. Walk-ins only. Please call in advance to reserve a space.
Gravity 101: Designed for those who have completed the Introduction to Gravity Training and are ready to proceed at a slower pace with fewer repetitions, allowing more time to focus on form and neutral joint alignment.
Gravity Training Multilevel: The bulk of Body Dynamics’ GTS classes are open to multiple levels once clients have demonstrated competency in required safety skills. Instructors will suggest modifications that allow advanced students to feel challenged while beginning students work at their comfort level.
Gravity Power Hour: One full hour of high-intensity Gravity training intended to challenge cardiovascular and muscular endurance. Students must have completed one session of Gravity training.
Gravity Training Youth Team: Power, speed, endurance -- Gravity Training for young athletes ages 13 to 18 years old, novice to expert.
